Workers of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) have begun a protest in Abuja to demand improved welfare and the payment of outstanding allowances.

The demonstration is being led by members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), NASC chapter, at the Commission’s headquarters.

The workers accused the management, led by Executive Chairman Dr Saviour Enyiekere, of failing to adequately address issues affecting their welfare. They also claimed that financial difficulties have left some employees struggling to pay their children’s September school fees.

The protesters further criticised the leadership over alleged frequent official travels, which they said had occurred alongside what they described as inadequate attention to staff welfare.

Several placards displayed during the demonstration carried messages directed at the Commission’s leadership and the Federal Government, including calls for the payment of unpaid allowances and intervention to address the workers’ grievances.

The latest protest remains ongoing as of the time of filing this report, with the workers pressing for action on their demands.
