Badagry Port Project Gets FG, APM Terminals Backing

The Federal Government has taken another step towards the development of the proposed Badagry Deep Seaport in Lagos State following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with APM Terminals.

The agreement was signed in Denmark during a visit by a Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola. The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, was also part of the delegation.

The deal is expected to encourage greater private-sector participation in Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure while strengthening the country’s engagement with international investors.

The proposed seaport is also expected to boost activities along the Badagry axis by creating a major maritime and logistics centre, increasing port-handling capacity and supporting the movement of goods.

The Federal Government said the agreement would strengthen its ties with APM Terminals and promote investment in the country’s maritime sector.
