The husband of a 36-year-old woman arrested in Anambra State over the alleged sexual abuse of their underage daughter has recounted how a video shown to him by a friend exposed the alleged conduct.

Ikechukwu Onyeanusi said he was unaware of his wife’s alleged actions until Thursday evening, when the friend showed him footage in which he recognised his wife and daughter. His account was contained in a Facebook video on Saturday, as reported by PREMIUM TIMES.

According to him, the discovery left him confused and initially prompted him to question whether the footage was genuine. He said he confronted his wife, who allegedly denied the accusation and claimed the video had been generated using artificial intelligence.

Mr Onyeanusi said his doubts persisted until police officers arrived at their Onitsha residence and took the matter further. He said his wife subsequently admitted during interrogation that she had committed the alleged offence.

The husband said the admission left him devastated, particularly because he had not suspected that his daughter was being subjected to such treatment. He also said his wife reportedly told investigators that he had no knowledge of her alleged activities.

“I am totally disappointed with my wife. I never believed she could do this kind of thing, even to our daughter,” he said.

The police had earlier arrested the woman and recovered sex toys and other items from the residence, while four children aged two, three, six and nine were reportedly rescued. The suspect is being investigated in connection with alleged child sexual abuse and child pornography.

Sexual exploitation of children and child pornography are criminal offences under Nigerian law. The Child Rights Act and other relevant legislation prescribe imprisonment and other penalties for persons convicted of offences involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children.
