Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, will not allow the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections to shift his attention from governance and delivery of projects across the state, his Political Adviser, Dr Godwin Ntukudeh, has said.
Ntukudeh said the governor had chosen to concentrate on development rather than engage individuals he described as political jobbers and attention seekers, insisting that the administration would allow its record in office to speak for it.
The adviser spoke with journalists shortly after the commissioning of the Youth Development Centre in Etinan Local Government Area, where he said the governor’s current activities demonstrated where his priorities lay.
According to him, the commissioning of 39 projects across the state in September had provided a practical demonstration of the administration’s approach to governance, with projects spanning roads, healthcare, education, youth development, aviation and other sectors.
“Governor Umo Eno is not distracted by the comments of political jobbers, attention seekers, or individuals who are only interested in creating controversy where none exists,” Ntukudeh said.
He added: “The governor is a very busy person, working assiduously for the people of Akwa Ibom State. He is inspecting projects, commissioning completed infrastructure and ensuring that the benefits of government reach the people in all parts of the state.”
Ntukudeh further claimed that no local government area had been left out of the administration’s presence, either through appointments or infrastructure, saying the spread of projects was intended to promote even development.
He cited the infrastructure at Victor Attah International Airport, including the international terminal building, airport hospital, aviation village, parallel taxiway, rapid-exit apron and airport access road, as examples of projects he said were designed to support the state’s economic ambitions.
The political adviser said Eno’s decision to remain focused on projects meant the governor would not respond to every political provocation, stressing that residents would ultimately assess the administration based on its record.
“The people can see the difference between a government that is working and those who only appear whenever there is an opportunity to make an irresponsible statement. The evidence is on the ground,” he said.
Ntukudeh assured that the governor would continue to pursue ongoing projects and other interventions across the state, despite the intensifying political atmosphere ahead of 2027.
The 39-project commissioning programme is part of activities marking Akwa Ibom’s 39th anniversary under the theme, “Our Moment of Gratitude.”
