President Bola Tinubu has told his wife, Oluremi, that if he were given the chance to live his life again, he would still choose the same path that brought them together.

Tinubu made the deeply personal declaration while celebrating the First Lady on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and the woman who has remained by his side through the difficult and defining moments of his life.

“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” the President said in a birthday tribute posted on his verified X handle on Monday.

He credited Oluremi with carrying part of the burdens that came with his public life, saying thoughts he could not express in words often found their way to her.

According to the birthday tribute, reported by The Independent, Tinubu said his wife remained calm and prayerful beside him during periods when the future was uncertain.

He also singled out her willingness to give him frank advice, saying she was never afraid to tell him the truth even when it was uncomfortable for him to hear.

“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.

The President described Oluremi as the embodiment of the traditional ideal of a virtuous wife, citing the Yoruba saying, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀” — a good wife is her husband’s crown.

Beyond their relationship, Tinubu praised her contribution to their family, saying their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her faith, kindness and prayers.

He also highlighted her humanitarian work, tracing it from the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos to the Renewed Hope Initiative, through which he said she had supported young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.

Tinubu further commended her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her compassion as one that cuts across ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.

Reflecting on their journey together, the President said years of shared decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayers had deepened their bond.

“A long journey teaches a man the true value of a good partner,” he said, recalling the difficult decisions they discussed privately and the sacrifices that remained largely unseen by others.

Tinubu ended the tribute with prayers for the First Lady, wishing her many more years of good health and joy.

“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi,” he said.
