Enyimba chairman Kanu Nwankwo has called on the club’s supporters to remain committed to the team as the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions seek to recover from a difficult start to the season.

Complete Sports reported that Enyimba are yet to register a point after three matches, with their latest setback coming in Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The defeat leaves the Aba-based side at the foot of the league standings after a run that has increased the pressure on the team following their narrow escape from relegation last season.

With another home fixture against Sporting Lagos scheduled for Wednesday, Kanu said the club remains determined to change its fortunes and urged supporters to play their part by continuing to encourage the players.

The former Nigeria captain acknowledged the fans’ backing during the defeat to Inter Lagos, noting that their presence despite the difficult circumstances remained important to the team.

He appealed for similar support against Sporting Lagos, stressing that Enyimba’s objective is to secure their first victory of the campaign and begin rebuilding momentum.

“We will get it right,” Kanu said, expressing confidence that the club can recover from its poor opening run.
