A major Nollywood gathering unfolded at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos as movie lovers turned out in large numbers for the screening of Black Market, a new film featuring some of Nigeria’s prominent screen talents.
The production boasts an ensemble cast including Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Lateef Adedimeji, Omowunmi Dada, Scarlet Gomez, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Itele D Icon and Uzor Arukwe, among others.
The screening was organised by Rixel Studios in partnership with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production.
Beyond promoting the movie, the event was structured around an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.
Organisers targeted a figure above the existing benchmark of 43,624 attendees, a record established more than a decade ago.
The scale of the gathering transformed the screening into more than a conventional movie premiere, bringing together fans, industry figures and members of the public in an event designed to test the reach of a Nigerian film on a record-setting scale.
