The alleged kidnapping and killing of a Department of State Services (DSS) operative has taken a legal turn, with four suspects facing a six-count terrorism charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to a TVC report, the suspects — Michael Okafor, also known as Onyechimeleze; Chinedu Joseph Chukwudozie, alias Kante; Chibunna Olisa; and Chigozie Olisa, alias Ability — were arraigned over the alleged abduction and killing of DSS officer Ekpeyong Asuquo Owoh.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired to commit acts of terrorism and abducted Owoh while he was travelling from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Awka, Anambra State.

The operative was allegedly taken hostage and subsequently killed during the operation, according to the charges brought against the defendants.

The prosecution also accused the four suspects of belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), alleging that they were involved in activities linked to terrorism.

In addition, the defendants were accused of unlawful possession of firearms, including AK-47 and pump-action rifles, allegedly in connection with the offences.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that the defendants be remanded in DSS custody and adjourned the matter until October 6 for commencement of trial.
