Indigenous youths in the Federal Capital Territory have pledged to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing projects carried out by the FCT Administration in communities across the territory.
The position was also presented as support for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, following his recent challenge over Tinubu’s electoral performance in the FCT and Rivers State.
Northern Nigeria Hub reported that the Executive Director of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youths Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO), Commandant Isaac David, gave the group’s position in a statement issued on Thursday.
Wike had earlier told leaders and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja that he would leave office as FCT minister if Tinubu failed to win the FCT and Rivers State in 2027.
Reacting to the minister’s position, David pointed to infrastructure projects in indigenous communities, saying the developments had made an impact on areas that had previously received limited attention.
He said the youths would work towards securing support for Tinubu in the territory, while expressing confidence that another term for the president would bring further attention to issues affecting FCT indigenous communities.
David maintained that the group would stand behind Wike’s position and support Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
