President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian youths participating in the 2026 National Youth Confab to openly question government policies and put forward workable alternatives where they disagree with existing decisions.
The president made the appeal as the National Youth Confab 2026 got underway on Friday, stressing that young Nigerians should have a meaningful role in discussions and decisions concerning the country’s future.
According to The Sun, Tinubu said the conference was conceived to move beyond merely having young people present at policy discussions, with their experiences and ideas expected to contribute to national decision-making.
He urged participants to be frank about issues affecting them and to accompany criticism with practical proposals capable of addressing the problems identified.
Tinubu also announced that the conference’s virtual consultation would remain open for two weeks, giving young Nigerians in different parts of the country and those in the diaspora an opportunity to participate.
The president said he expected the consultations to produce recommendations capable of informing government policy and contributing to national development, adding that proposals from the process would receive serious consideration.
