A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter has returned to base after making a precautionary landing following an aerial operation against suspected kidnappers in Benue State.
The aircraft was deployed for a close air support mission in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area, where the operation reportedly disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers and supported the advance of ground forces.
Arise News reported that the helicopter landed on farmland in the Utur, Tse-Igboji area of Makurdi on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while returning from the operation.
According to the NAF, the pilot decided to make the precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield, exercising professional judgment in line with established operational and safety procedures after the mission.
The helicopter has since returned to base, while the Air Force said it would continue coordinated air and ground operations to sustain pressure on criminal elements and support troops conducting operations across the state.
