The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has warned that accredited insolvency practitioners who fail to complete its mandatory registration exercise by December 1, 2026, will face automatic suspension and become ineligible to handle insolvency assignments.
In a public notice dated October 14, 2026, the Commission extended the re-registration requirement to all accredited practitioners, including those whose existing accreditation certificates remain valid.
The CAC said the exercise would support its transition to end-to-end automation and facilitate updates to practitioners’ identification records in line with the NIMC Act, 2026. It added that successful applicants would receive new certificates with enhanced security features.
The directive is anchored on Section 705 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020, and Regulation 1.07 of the Insolvency Regulations, 2022, which provide for a three-year accreditation period and renewal upon expiration.
The Commission directed practitioners to complete their applications online through https://insolvency.cac.gov.ng. Further information is available at www.cac.gov.ng.
