The Delta State Government has ordered flags on all public buildings to fly at half-mast for three days in honour of former Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died on Monday, October 19, 2026, aged 71.
The mourning period took effect on Monday following a directive by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as the state pays tribute to the former governor who led Delta from 2007 to 2015.
The decision was conveyed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.
Under the directive, the half-mast arrangement will remain in force throughout the three-day period as part of the state government’s official observance of Uduaghan’s death.
Uduaghan, who would have turned 72 on October 22, served two terms as governor between 2007 and 2015.
