Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok, Executive Director of Estate Services at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at an international housing event focused on the future of residential design, affordability and sustainable communities.
Nya-Etok will speak at the International Design Showcase: Global Housing Futures 2050 — The Homegrown Habitat, organised by US Africa Collaborative for November 10, 2026.
The virtual event will mark the celebration of the 2026 Homegrown Habitat Competition and the launch of the 2027 design competition, bringing together housing professionals to examine approaches to affordable housing, climate-responsive architecture and community development.
His address is expected to bring Nigeria’s public-sector housing experience into discussions on how countries can respond to rising housing needs through locally appropriate designs, sustainable construction and improved estate management.
The Homegrown Habitat concept promotes housing solutions that reflect local culture, environmental conditions and community needs while addressing affordability and sustainability.
As Executive Director of Estate Services, Nya-Etok occupies a role within the FHA, the federal agency responsible for developing residential estates and implementing approved housing initiatives.
The engagement will also provide an opportunity to exchange professional knowledge with international participants on housing design, construction methods, infrastructure provision and the management of residential communities.
However, the practical value of such international engagements will depend on whether the knowledge and professional contacts generated can inform housing policies and improve project implementation in Nigeria.
The event comes amid continuing national efforts to expand access to housing through government-backed programmes, including the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.
In May 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reported that the programme and FHA initiatives were delivering more than 10,000 housing units across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside employment opportunities.
The November event is expected to explore how design innovation, sustainability and international professional cooperation can contribute to addressing housing challenges in different countries.
