Kano’s commercial links with Kaduna and other parts of Northern Nigeria have received an infrastructure boost following the inauguration of a completed section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway by President Bola Tinubu.
The newly commissioned Section III covers the Zaria–Kano axis, a strategic stretch for the movement of farm produce, merchandise and passengers into and out of Kano, one of the country’s busiest commercial centres, according to Channels Television.
Tinubu, represented at the event by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, underscored the importance of the project to regional connectivity. The upgraded corridor is expected to make journeys more efficient for transport operators and businesses that depend on the route to move goods between major markets.
The development also brings renewed attention to road safety on the busy highway, where improved driving conditions are expected to reduce the dangers associated with deteriorated road surfaces. Businesses could also benefit from fewer transport delays and reduced vehicle maintenance expenses.
Sunusi Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano State Government House, said the project formed part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure and support economic activity through improved transportation links.
The Kano State Government urged road users to protect the investment by observing traffic regulations, maintaining safe speeds and avoiding hazardous overtaking.
