The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has placed its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the head of its national campaign structure as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Under the arrangement, Dickson will serve as chairman of the National Campaign Council, while Obi will occupy the position of co-chairman, according to appointments announced by the party on its official X account on Sunday.
The structure also places the party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, as vice-chairman and its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as co-vice-chairman.
The NDC’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, has been appointed secretary of the council, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim will serve as director-general.
The appointments establish the leadership team responsible for coordinating the party’s nationwide campaign operations, strategic planning and voter mobilisation ahead of the polls.
In announcing the council, the party said it would provide strategic direction for its campaign activities and mobilise Nigerians around its proposed vision for the country.
The NDC also pledged to run a people-centred and issue-based campaign, with an emphasis on the concerns of Nigerians and policy issues.
It called on party members, supporters and other Nigerians to maintain unity as it prepares for the electoral contest.
The announcement comes as political parties begin assembling campaign teams and establishing the structures required to coordinate their activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointments place the party’s national leadership and its presidential and vice-presidential candidates within the same campaign framework, with responsibility for translating its political platform into a nationwide mobilisation effort.
