The Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University of Education (AUE), Afaha Nsit, Professor Philip Afaha, has warned administrative staff against negligence and indiscipline, insisting that employees who violate the university’s rules will face appropriate sanctions.
Afaha gave the warning during a town hall meeting with administrative staff at the university’s Mini-Theatre, Afaha Nsit, where he called for greater commitment, punctuality and professionalism in the discharge of official duties.
He said the university could only achieve effective administration if staff members took their responsibilities seriously and adhered to established rules and regulations.
The Vice Chancellor cautioned against negligence, misconduct and other actions capable of disrupting the smooth running of the institution, stressing that management would not tolerate practices that undermine efficient service delivery.
He urged employees to demonstrate integrity, accountability and dedication in their respective offices, noting that every staff member had a responsibility to contribute to the growth and development of the university.
While warning against misconduct, Afaha also promised to improve staff welfare, saying his administration remained committed to creating a better working environment for employees.
He urged staff members to reciprocate management’s commitment to their wellbeing by improving their work attitude and maintaining high professional standards.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Vice Chancellor to interact directly with administrative staff and communicate management’s expectations on workplace conduct, discipline and service delivery.
Responding, staff members across various ranks commended the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and pledged to uphold professional ethics and perform their duties more effectively.
The engagement was part of a series of town hall meetings organised by the Vice Chancellor to interact with key groups within the university community.
The meeting with administrative staff followed an engagement with teaching staff, while a session with students was scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to conclude the series
