The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Akwa Ibom State have warned that political support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno must translate into votes in the 2027 elections, urging members to intensify voter sensitisation and grassroots mobilisation.
The group said its electoral strategy would focus on reaching voters across polling units, wards and local government areas, while ensuring that supporters obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the elections.
State Coordinator of RHA, Obong Prince Ikim, made the position known on Wednesday at a breakfast meeting with local government and ward coordinators and other members of the group.
He charged the coordinators to take the messages of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Eno’s ARISE Agenda to the grassroots, stressing that the group must work collectively to secure electoral victories for the candidates.
Ikim also defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and efforts to stabilise the naira, describing them as difficult but necessary decisions to prevent further deterioration of the economy.
He argued that the reforms had improved the financial capacity of state and local governments to undertake development projects, adding that Akwa Ibom had benefited from projects executed under the President’s administration.
The RHA coordinator maintained that Tinubu had fulfilled the promises he made during the 2023 election campaign, expressing confidence that his record, alongside Eno’s performance, would provide the group with a basis for seeking voters’ support.
He urged members to communicate these achievements to residents rather than limit their activities to party meetings and internal engagements.
Ikim also acknowledged Governor Eno’s support for the organisation, noting that his appointment as state coordinator reflected the governor’s confidence in the group’s political capacity.
A former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Aniekan Uko, reinforced the commitment to mobilising votes for Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno and other APC candidates in 2027.
Uko said the group would work towards ensuring that the candidates secured widespread support across the state.
Speaking on behalf of Eket Senatorial District, Charles Mbong identified PVC collection as a critical part of the mobilisation process, urging members to sensitise eligible voters on the need to obtain their cards.
He maintained that supporters must be prepared to participate in the actual voting process if the group’s political mobilisation was to produce the desired results.
The meeting underscored the RHA’s plan to combine advocacy for the Tinubu and Eno administrations with grassroots voter engagement as the 2027 general elections approach.
