Ondo Police Probe Businessman’s Death After Final Video Surfaces

A video in which an Ondo businessman reportedly spoke about his personal struggles and disclosed plans to transfer his properties to his wife and children has emerged following his death, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The businessman, 46-year-old Kayode Akinbolusere, popularly known as Tolufe and owner of Esther Estate, was found dead in his office in Igba Town, Ondo State, on Thursday, October 29.

In the video, which has circulated on social media, Akinbolusere said he was making arrangements for his wife, Esther, and their three children living in Canada to inherit his properties.

He insisted that the decision was voluntary and praised his wife for standing by him during the difficult years of building his business.

He also spoke about challenges he had encountered at work, including faults that developed in two machines he was using, and reflected on the sacrifices involved in establishing his business.

“My wife knew how I suffered. She didn’t trouble me. I will all my properties to my wife, Akinbolusere Esther, who hails from Ekiti, and my three children who are in Canada,” he said.

The Ondo State Police Command said it had commenced an investigation into the suspected suicide following reports that the businessman had died in his office beside BOVAS Petrol Station in Igba Town at about 3 p.m.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said officers from Bolorunduro Division visited the scene after receiving information from members of the public.

According to the police, two empty bottles suspected to have contained Sniper insecticide were recovered from a nearby bush.

The command said preliminary findings also indicated that Akinbolusere had recorded a video before his death in which he reportedly spoke about his life struggles.

His remains were evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.

The police added that no visible marks of violence were observed on the body during the initial examination, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, had ordered a thorough investigation to establish the actual circumstances and cause of death.

The command cautioned against speculation as investigations continue and urged people experiencing emotional distress or personal difficulties to seek timely support.
