Two senior officials in the Oyo State Government have resigned from their positions, with one of them citing an unfavourable working environment and difficulties in representing the interests of his people.
The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barr. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke.
Their resignations were made public on Monday, November 2, 2026, with both officials communicating their decisions to Governor Seyi Makinde in separate letters.
Ojo announced his resignation in a letter delivered to the governor in the early hours of Monday. He stated that his decision would take immediate effect but did not provide any explanation for his departure.
The former commissioner, who was appointed on June 22, 2026, expressed gratitude to Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve Oyo State, describing his time in government as an honour.
Oyeleke, however, offered reasons for his decision to leave the administration. In his resignation letter dated November 2, he complained that the working environment was no longer favourable to him.
He also explained that remaining in the government would make it difficult for him to effectively represent and fulfil the expectations of the people he was serving.
Before his appointment as Special Adviser, Oyeleke had served two terms in the Oyo State House of Assembly and previously held the position of local government chairman.
Despite his decision to quit, he acknowledged Makinde’s support and leadership, thanking the governor for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development efforts.
He also reiterated his commitment to the continued peace and development of Oyo State.
The departure of the two officials comes at a politically significant period, as activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to generate developments within political circles in the state.
