President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria is entering a new era of prosperity, citing ongoing development initiatives and infrastructure investments as signs of the country’s progress.
Tinubu made the declaration on Friday, November 6, 2026, while commissioning the 7.865-kilometre dual carriage Ring Road 3 in Akwa Ibom State, which the state government renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ring Road in honour of the President.
The President, who expressed satisfaction with the pace of development in the state, commended Governor Umo Eno for what he described as transformational leadership, noting that the administration had sustained a development-focused approach.
“I have witnessed remarkable transformation since the beginning of the current administration under Governor Eno,” Tinubu said.
He attributed the visible progress in Akwa Ibom to purposeful leadership and collaboration among different levels of government, acknowledging the contributions of the state executive council, National Assembly leadership and other stakeholders.
The President, who was accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Eno and other dignitaries, said the partnership between his administration and Akwa Ibom had yielded tangible development outcomes.
Tinubu also noted that Nigeria was making progress through the re-engineering of its development programmes, expressing optimism that the country was on the path to greater prosperity.
He thanked God before formally commissioning the road project.
The Village Head of Nung Obio Enang, Idoro, Eteidung James Umoh, described the road and other development projects in the area as evidence of the state government’s commitment to improving the lives of residents.
He appreciated Tinubu for visiting Akwa Ibom to commission projects, saying the President’s presence had added further significance to the development efforts of Governor Eno.
The traditional ruler also pledged the community’s support for the President and Governor Eno ahead of the 2027 elections.
Similarly, Mr Nsikak Umoh, speaking on behalf of beneficiaries of free houses at Grace Estate, expressed appreciation to the state government for providing them with homes through its housing initiative.
He said the scheme had relieved civil servants of the burden of accommodation costs while restoring dignity and hope to beneficiaries.
Umoh added that the completion of the road had improved connectivity and eased daily movement for residents, assuring that beneficiaries would continue to support the governor’s development agenda.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ring Road, formerly known as Ring Road 3, traverses Uyo, Ikono and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas, linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road.
The 7.865-kilometre dual carriageway was among the projects commissioned by the President during his one-day working visit to Akwa Ibom State
