High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has taken his campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election into Northern Nigeria, launching a grassroots mobilisation structure designed to reach voters directly in their communities.

The initiative, known as the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, made its northern debut in Katsina State at the weekend, where 34 local government coordinators were inaugurated as part of the campaign network.

The movement also signalled its readiness for an extensive grassroots operation with the presentation of 34 campaign vehicles to the coordinators, one for each local government area in the state. Tompolo, who founded and convenes the movement, was represented at the event by High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi.

Addressing supporters, Pondi urged members of the movement to move beyond conventional campaign rallies and engage directly with residents in wards, communities, markets and households. He said the objective was to take the message of the Tinubu administration to voters at the grassroots.

The choice of Katsina for the northern launch was also presented as a reflection of the political relationship between President Tinubu and the state. Organisers described the relationship as one built on trust, confidence and inclusion, while urging supporters to consolidate it ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who endorsed the initiative, assured Tinubu of Katsina’s support in the forthcoming election. He described the state as an APC stronghold, saying the party’s structure remained united across its 34 local government areas and 361 wards.

Radda also linked the political ties between Tinubu and Katsina to the president’s longstanding relationship with northern political leaders, recalling his contribution to the political process that produced Muhammadu Buhari as president in 2015. He commended Tompolo for selecting Katsina as the movement’s entry point into the North.

Former Deputy Governor and state coordinator of the Renewed Hope movement, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, said the state’s political history and established APC structure would provide a strong platform for the new mobilisation effort. He pledged that the movement would sustain its grassroots engagement across Katsina ahead of the 2027 polls.
