Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled plans to mobilise two million supporters across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Abba, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced the plan on Friday through his political support platform, Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
He said the proposed mobilisation march would begin in Abuja before spreading to other parts of the country as the organisation builds support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
The development places the former vice-president’s son in a political mobilisation campaign for Tinubu, whose expected 2027 contest could put him against his father, a leading opposition figure.
Abba said the organisation would first concentrate on supporting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he described as a key figure in its mobilisation structure.
He said the group was aligning with Wike’s political objective of delivering the FCT and Rivers State for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The organisation also plans to hold a major political mobilisation exercise in Rivers State in the first week of November.
Beyond rallies and political campaigns, Abba announced plans to introduce a transportation support scheme with an initial fleet of 10 luxury buses.
He said the initiative would begin in the FCT and later extend to other parts of the country to ease transportation difficulties for residents.
According to him, support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda should go beyond political declarations to include practical interventions that improve the lives of Nigerians.
Abba said HBTO was activating its structures across the country, with plans to establish state and zonal offices, engage community stakeholders and work with other political groups to secure support for the president.
He described his decision to support Tinubu as a personal political choice, insisting that individuals should be free to make independent decisions about the leadership and political platforms they support.
He said the organisation was established to mobilise Nigerians who believe in Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
Abba acknowledged that the administration’s economic reforms had brought difficult adjustments for Nigerians but argued that their intended long-term benefits and interventions across different sectors should also be recognised.
