The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has begun strengthening its grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections, with party leaders urged to secure a convincing victory across the state.
Obong Prince Ikim, State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, made the call while addressing ward executives undergoing verification in Uyo on Friday.
Ikim called on ward chairmen and secretaries from the 31 local government areas to work towards delivering their respective wards to the APC.
“We must approach 2027 with a new mindset. This is not the time for business as usual. Our target must be to win elections with a big margin in Akwa Ibom State,” he said.
He explained that the verification exercise across the party’s 329 wards would help update its records, identify inactive members and strengthen its grassroots leadership.
Ikim said the APC’s growing influence at both federal and state levels presented an opportunity the party must maximise ahead of the elections.
“We have the federal presence, we have state leadership, and we have the people. What is left is for us to go to work. 2027 must not be close. It must be decisive,” he said.
The exercise, which began last week, is set to reach all 31 local government areas before the end of August.
