A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that President Bola Tinubu can count on overwhelming support from the North-West in his bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso, a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, made the declaration following the large turnout of supporters at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Kaduna on Saturday.
He described the gathering as evidence that the region was prepared to stand firmly behind Tinubu, insisting that the political direction of the North-West had become clear ahead of the next general election.
According to him, the rally was more than a campaign event, as it demonstrated the region’s commitment to the President’s re-election and sent a message to other parts of the country about the level of support Tinubu enjoys in the North.
Kwankwaso maintained that returning Tinubu to the presidency would provide an opportunity to advance national unity and promote balanced development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
He argued that the President’s administration represented a commitment to equitable resource distribution, adding that another term would help sustain the development agenda he believes the country needs.
The APC chieftain also rejected suggestions that Northern support for Tinubu was driven solely by political convenience. He said the region should remain committed to its position as the 2027 contest approaches.
Describing Tinubu as the North’s preferred presidential candidate, Kwankwaso expressed confidence that the region would honour its political commitment by voting massively for him at the polls.
He further urged political leaders and stakeholders across the country to look beyond narrow partisan interests and embrace what he described as a collective effort towards national progress.
Kwankwaso’s remarks come as political parties intensify early mobilisation and efforts to consolidate regional support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
