Twenty-four police officers attached to the Press Escorts Unit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address what they described as nine months of unpaid allowances.
The affected personnel, who belong to the Police Mobile Force (PMF), said they had continued carrying out their official duties despite not receiving the additional payments for nine consecutive months.
In a petition submitted to the President’s office, the officers expressed frustration over their situation, alleging that some of their colleagues performing similar assignments were receiving the allowances while they had been left out.
They said the prolonged delay had created serious financial difficulties for them, making it increasingly difficult to provide for their families and meet other household expenses.
According to the petitioners, the allowances were an important part of their income, helping them cover basic needs such as transportation to work, house rent and the upkeep of their children and other dependants.
The officers questioned why they had been excluded from the payments despite performing the same duties as colleagues who continued to receive the benefits.
They also appealed to the Federal Government to investigate the matter and ensure that all outstanding payments were released without further delay.
The affected personnel maintained that resolving the issue would ease the financial burden on them and their families, while ensuring that their welfare concerns were properly addressed.
They urged Tinubu to personally intervene in the matter, stressing that they had waited for nine months and needed urgent action from the authorities.
