The Edo State Government has demolished a residential property in Uromi following allegations that it was used for organ harvesting and ritual activities, while two suspects have been arrested in a security crackdown covering parts of Esan Central Senatorial District.
The demolition followed an operation by the state’s special security squad, Operation Flush Out Kidnapping and Cultists, working with the Edo State Security Corps, police and other security agencies.
One of the suspects was identified as 40-year-old Ebhata Eromosele, whose bungalow and boys’ quarters at Uwalor-Oke, Uromi, were pulled down over alleged links to ritual activities and organ harvesting.
Security officials alleged that three young women had been attacked in connection with the case. One reportedly died, another was hospitalised, while the third was discharged. The circumstances surrounding the reported death and the alleged attacks remain subject to investigation.
According to the security team, operatives conducted surveillance for more than a month before tracing the suspect to the property. Bloodstained bedding and other items were reportedly recovered from the premises.
A second building at Idi-Negbon Eguare, Ewatto, was also demolished over alleged links to cult-related activities. Authorities did not provide further details about the specific activities allegedly connected to the property.
The two suspects are in police custody as investigations continue, with the government indicating that the operation forms part of its broader campaign against kidnapping, cultism, ritual-related crimes and other security threats.
The allegations have raised fresh concerns about the safety of residents in the affected communities. However, the suspects’ guilt has not been established, and the allegations must be tested through investigation and the judicial process.
The state government said the security crackdown would continue as authorities seek to disrupt criminal networks operating in Edo State.
