Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, ex-Jigawa Governor Abubakar Badaru and former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong were among political figures reported to have met Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
The meeting took place as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prepared for its 2027 presidential campaign, with President Bola Tinubu seeking another term in office.
The party’s Presidential Campaign Council is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 14 at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, while its campaign launch is planned for Kaduna State on October 24.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the campaign council, announced the dates on Friday after meeting Tinubu at the Villa. He also disclosed that Port Harcourt and Maiduguri would host subsequent campaign activities, with the complete schedule expected after the council’s inauguration.
Punch reported that the delegation arrived at the State House at about 4pm and proceeded to the Vice President’s office. The purpose of the meeting had not been officially disclosed at the time of the report.
Other officials reportedly present included National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Chairman, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), and Hadiza Bala-Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination.
