Imo State Governor and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced that the council has held its inaugural meeting, with members taking critical decisions ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
Uzodimma, who disclosed this in a statement, said the meeting was aimed at positioning the council to effectively deliver on its mandate of securing victory for Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.
The governor said members demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to the assignment, describing their collective resolve as essential to achieving the council’s objective.
He added that the campaign council’s efforts would be supported by what he described as the President’s continued commitment to advancing the APC’s progressive ideals through policies and initiatives intended to improve the lives of Nigerians.
The meeting comes ahead of the APC’s planned presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on October 24, 2026, as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general election. The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities, mobilisation and engagement with party stakeholders nationwide.
Uzodimma, a lawyer and former senator who has served as governor of Imo State since January 2020, was appointed secretary of the presidential campaign council, with former Zamfara State governor and senator Abdulaziz Yari serving as director-general.
He said the council would sustain the momentum generated by its inaugural meeting, consolidate on the administration’s achievements and work to ensure that the benefits of what the APC describes as progressive governance reach Nigerians.
The meeting marks a further step in the party’s preparations to retain the presidency, with the council tasked with coordinating its campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 polls.
