A court in Bayelsa State has ordered Gloria Lucky, 25, to pay N4 million in fines and victim compensation following her conviction on four human trafficking-related charges.
The financial penalties comprise N3 million payable by Lucky and N500,000 each for two victims, according to details released by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on Thursday, according to TVC News.
Lucky will also serve seven years in prison. Justice Doris O. Adokeme of Court 3 ordered the custodial sentences to run concurrently after the defendant was convicted.
The charges covered conspiracy, assistance to human trafficking activities, the procurement of a minor for sexual exploitation, and facilitating travel abroad for prostitution. The prosecution relied on provisions of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
