A road accident along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lagos has claimed one life and left three others seriously injured.
The crash, which occurred on Friday on the section of the road leading towards Eko Hotel, involved a grey Lexus SUV with registration number LSD 554 KV, according to a report by SaharaReporters.
The vehicle reportedly lost control, struck a roadside pole and overturned, leaving three people seriously injured. The victims were rescued from the wreckage with assistance from bystanders and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for treatment.
Security personnel from Victoria Island also joined the emergency response at the scene, while operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) cleared the damaged vehicle from the roadway to facilitate traffic movement and prevent another accident.
Relevant emergency and security agencies were subsequently engaged to support rescue efforts, investigate the incident and carry out other necessary safety procedures.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condoled with the family of the deceased and appealed to motorists to exercise caution, particularly by avoiding excessive speed and reckless driving.
He also urged road users to report crashes, broken-down vehicles and other obstructions to LASTMA through its toll-free emergency number, 3367.
