Davido Likes VDM’s Post Criticising Uncle Adeleke Over Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

Afrobeats star Davido has attracted attention on social media after simply liking a viral post by activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who criticised the singer and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over the governor’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The development followed Adeleke’s appearance at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, where he declared support for Tinubu and indicated that he would coordinate the president’s campaign in Osun State.

VDM subsequently challenged the governor’s political position, describing him as an APC puppet and drawing Davido into the controversy over his uncle’s declaration.

The activist accused Davido of emotionally influencing his fans with anti-APC posts during Adeleke’s governorship campaign, arguing that the singer’s earlier political messaging was at odds with the governor’s latest alignment.

However, Davido did not issue a lengthy statement or publicly engage the activist in an exchange. The singer simply liked VDM’s post, a reaction that surprised social media users because the publication directly criticised both him and his uncle.

The singer’s action quickly became a talking point, with users debating what the like might mean in the context of the family’s political differences and the approaching 2027 elections.

Davido’s reaction, however, does not by itself establish that he agreed with every allegation or criticism contained in the activist’s post.

Adeleke contested the Osun governorship election under the Accord Party. His appearance at the APC campaign council meeting and declaration of support for Tinubu have since triggered questions about his political alignment ahead of the next general election.

The episode has also renewed attention on the relationship between celebrities’ political expressions and the expectations of supporters who follow their public positions.

For now, Davido’s only reported reaction to VDM’s criticism is the social media like, rather than a direct public rebuttal or an explicit endorsement of the activist’s claims.
