DAY 137 | OCTOBER 9 | ROADS THAT LEAD TO MARKETS – AMANYAM ROAD DOUBLE TERM DOUBLE IMPACT

On September 3, 2026, Governor Umo Eno wrote his name in gold in Ikot Ekpene when he commissioned the 6.475km Amanyam-Mbiaso Road as one of the 39 legacy projects marking Akwa Ibom State’s 39th Anniversary. This is not just asphalt, this is commerce in motion. For 30 years, this road was a death trap and farm produce rotted because no vehicle could enter. Today, that history is buried under a solid, solar-lit road with proper drainage.

The story is verifiable on ground. The road connects Amanyam to Ifuho, Ibong, Ikot Udoe and Mbiaso communities, all in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. Distinguished Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, who taught in Community Secondary School, Amanyam in 1987, gave a live testimony at the commissioning. He said in 1987 he used to park his car 1km away and trek through mud to the school. On September 3, 2026, his vehicle drove to the school gate. The Principal and students confirmed it. This is governance with evidence.

Governor Eno made a statement that defines his second term appeal. He said, “I don’t play that kind of politics. What is good is good.” He stressed that he executes projects without political coloration, which is why this road leads even to communities and residences known to be opposition strongholds. Markets serve everybody. This is why Akwa Ibom people are saying Umo Eno deserves second term — he builds where others do politics.

What Governor Umo Eno does at state level, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu multiplies at federal level. On September 22, 2026, Senate President Godswill Akpabio confirmed at Ikot Ekpene stadium that the Federal Government has committed to dualize the Aba – Ikot Ekpene Road. This is the missing federal highway that turns the 6.475km Amanyam Road from a community road to a federal market feeder road linking 5 states — Akwa Ibom, Abia, Enugu, Rivers and Cross River. That is Tinubu’s Renewed Hope connecting to Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

Ask traders in Ikot Ekpene. Before this road, transporting garri, palm oil and fish from Amanyam to the proposed Ikot Ekpene International Market site took 45 minutes and doubled transport cost. Today, traders confirm it takes 8 minutes. Cost of evacuation has dropped by 60%. Farm gates that were locked for 30 years are now open. That is how you fight food inflation — not with press statements, but with roads that lead to markets.

Double Term Double Impact. A second term for Pastor Umo Eno will complete the 1,300km road-to-market network where every road in Akwa Ibom terminates in a modern market with warehouses, cold rooms and solar power. A second term for President Tinubu will dualize Aba-Ikot Ekpene, complete the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Akwa Ibom section, and make Amanyam Road the gateway to international markets. This is why we say: Continuity is prosperity. Second term is non-negotiable.
