Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has mourned the death of former Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, who reportedly died at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Enugu State.

Eno described Daniel’s death as a major loss to Akwa Ibom State and the student community, lamenting that a promising young leader had died while preparing to serve the country.

The governor’s condolence message, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, extended sympathies to the deceased’s family, members of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAKISS) and student leaders across tertiary institutions.

“I received with sadness the news of the tragic passing of Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, a promising young leader whose life was cut short while answering the call to serve our nation,” Eno said.

The governor noted that Daniel’s death had deprived the state and the student community of a young man whose leadership and service had made him a significant figure among his peers.

He said the loss was particularly painful because of the expectations surrounding young people who had the potential to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the country.

“Our youths are our future, and losing such a brilliant young man, with a bright future ahead of him, is deeply painful,” the governor stated.

Eno extended his condolences to the leadership and members of NAKISS, Akwa Ibom students across the world, and serving SUG presidents in tertiary institutions.

He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and the wider student community as they grapple with the loss.

The governor also prayed for the peaceful repose of Daniel’s soul, describing his passing as a painful moment for all those who knew and worked with him.
