Prominent political figures in Akwa Ibom State, including Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Udom Ekpoudom, have endorsed the Golden Mandate Movement’s planned mega rally in Ikot Ekpene, as the group intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other political leaders who endorsed the rally include Abak Local Government Chairman, Lady Ime Charles; member representing Ikono State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Asoquo Nana; and his Ikot Ekpene State Constituency counterpart, Rt. Hon. Jerry Otu.
The endorsement followed visits by the movement’s leadership, led by its Grand Patron and Akwa Ibom State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Envoy Nsentip Akpabio, to the political stakeholders on Tuesday, October 27.
The movement’s mega voter sensitisation rally and official endorsement of APC candidates is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
The event is expected to bring together APC stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women and other supporters for voter education, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection awareness and mobilisation for the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the visits, Akpabio said GMM was established to unite people across political and community lines around a common purpose.
“GMM was founded for the togetherness of everyone,” he said, describing the movement as a platform for collective political mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
He expressed appreciation to the political leaders for accepting to serve as patrons, saying their involvement would strengthen the movement’s reach and support its mobilisation activities across the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Akpabio said the movement was intensifying efforts to encourage eligible voters to collect their PVCs and participate in the electoral process, while seeking support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other APC candidates.
The newly decorated patrons welcomed their recognition and pledged to contribute their experience and influence to the movement’s programmes. They also expressed support for voter sensitisation and initiatives aimed at improving electoral participation.
In his remarks, GMM International President, Dr. Anthony Umanah, KSM, commended Akpabio for providing the vision and leadership behind the movement.
Umanah described the stakeholders’ visits as an opportunity to strengthen GMM’s leadership structure and consolidate relationships with influential political figures across the senatorial district.
He assured the patrons that the movement would sustain voter education, PVC sensitisation and grassroots engagement among youths, women and other groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
The October 30 rally is expected to serve as a major platform for the movement’s voter mobilisation drive and its formal endorsement of APC candidates ahead of the general elections.
