Israeli Strike On Gaza Vehicle Kills Two, Injures 13 Amid Ceasefire Tensions

At least two people have been killed and 13 others injured after an Israeli air strike hit a vehicle in Gaza City, with the incident adding to growing concerns over the durability of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

According to a TVC News report, the strike occurred on Sunday in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood of Gaza City, where medics said the targeted vehicle was destroyed and the victims suffered severe injuries.

The report said health officials described the bodies of the two people killed in the attack as dismembered, while footage from the scene showed the vehicle with its roof and doors ripped apart.

The Israeli military said the strike was aimed at two Hamas fighters, maintaining that those targeted were members of the Palestinian armed group.

The latest attack comes amid continued Israeli military operations in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas in October, with Palestinian health authorities reporting more than 1,300 deaths since the truce took effect.

Hamas has accused Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire and undermining United States President Donald Trump’s plan for ending the conflict, which envisages an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza alongside the disarmament of Hamas.

The humanitarian situation has also worsened, as Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that several hospital generators had stopped working because of shortages of fuel, oil and spare parts, with supplies entering the territory reportedly far below hospitals’ estimated monthly requirements.

The ministry said the limited oil permitted into Gaza was being reserved for emergencies and was insufficient to meet the estimated 2,500 litres required by hospitals each month.

The development contrasts with Trump’s assessment of the situation during his visit to Ireland on Saturday, when he defended his administration’s handling of the conflict and said there was now “very little happening” in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Palestinian health authorities put the overall death toll from Israel’s war in Gaza at at least 73,669 since October 2023, with women and children accounting for the majority of those killed.
