Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reacted after a Russian drone targeted a railway route near Ukraine’s border with Poland while he was travelling on a train in the area.

Johnson was travelling on the same railway route used by passengers heading towards Ukraine when the drone incident occurred, prompting security concerns and the evacuation of a passenger train, according to The Independent.

The incident highlighted the risks facing rail passengers travelling through the region as Russia continues its military operations in Ukraine.

Johnson, who has remained a prominent supporter of Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, was reportedly not evacuated from his train and his journey was not significantly disrupted.

The drone activity occurred close to the railway line linking Poland with Ukraine, a route frequently used by passengers and officials travelling between the two countries.

The incident also raised fresh concerns over the vulnerability of critical transport routes near Ukraine’s western border, particularly those used to move civilians and international visitors.

The Independent reported that none of the special trains carrying European officials was involved in the incident.
