Kannywood actress Firdausi Yahaya has appealed for the release of a Kaduna family abducted by bandits, following the circulation of footage showing the parents and their six-month-old daughter in captivity.
Northern Nigeria Hub reported that Yahaya made the appeal in an emotional video posted on social media, where she questioned the authorities’ response to persistent kidnappings and expressed concern for the safety of the infant.
The video shows Ahmed Abubakar Zakka holding his daughter while an armed man stands near the family. The abductors have reportedly demanded ₦300 million for the release of the three captives.
The family was reportedly kidnapped on October 6, 2026, during a late-night raid on Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack, said to have occurred at about 11:30 p.m., also resulted in the abduction of other residents.
Yahaya said the footage had deeply affected her and prompted her to speak publicly about the situation. She appealed to anyone capable of intervening to help secure the family’s freedom, drawing particular attention to the child’s vulnerability.
The incident comes amid reports of other kidnappings and attacks in communities around Kaduna metropolis. In a separate incident, a pregnant woman was reportedly abducted, while a man identified as Sikiru was killed and his wife, 14-year-old son and six other people were taken away.
Yahaya’s appeal has drawn attention to the family’s plight, with their safe return remaining the central concern following the circulation of the footage. The reported ransom demand and the circumstances surrounding the abduction could not be independently verified from the information provided.
