Nigeria’s Tamunosoye Karibi-George has given the country another reason to cheer at the 2026 Miss World contest, emerging Africa’s Top Model and earning an automatic place in the coveted Top 40.

Karibi-George, the reigning Miss World Nigeria, secured the continental title on at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII in Vietnam, where contestants showcased their style and poise under the theme, “Soul of Heritage.”

Her performance saw her edge representatives from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa to claim the African crown, placing Nigeria among the standout nations in one of the pageant’s major pre-final contests.

According to the Miss World Organisation, the victory comes with more than bragging rights, as Karibi-George has now advanced directly to the Top 40 quarterfinals of the global competition.

The organisation announced the result on its Instagram page, congratulating the four continental winners and confirming that Nigeria would represent Africa in the next stage of the contest.

While Nigeria took the African slot, the Dominican Republic emerged Top Model winner for the Americas and Caribbean, France claimed Europe, while host nation Vietnam won the Asia and Oceania category.

Karibi-George’s breakthrough adds fresh momentum to Nigeria’s campaign at the prestigious international pageant, with the Top Model crown placing her among the contestants who have already secured a place in the quarterfinal stage.

With the Top 40 ticket now safely in her hands, attention will shift to the next stage, where the Nigerian beauty will seek to convert her continental triumph into an even deeper run for the coveted Miss World crown.
