The Kebbi State Government has moved to strengthen attendance and punctuality across its public service, directing civil servants to adhere to the prescribed 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule from Monday to Friday.
The directive was issued by the Head of the Kebbi State Civil Service, Malami Shekare, in a circular dated September 23, 2026, from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service in Birnin Kebbi.
The working-hour requirement is referenced in Chapter 13, Section 4, Sub-section 140122 of the Public Service Rules, 2021 Edition, cited in the circular.
According to the circular, workers are expected to remain at their respective duty posts throughout official working hours, while lateness or absence from duty must be reported to and approved by the appropriate authority.
The government said the measure followed concerns over cases of workers arriving late or leaving their places of assignment without obtaining the required permission.
Shekare consequently directed permanent secretaries, heads of ministries, departments and agencies to ensure that the directive is communicated to all personnel and that compliance is maintained across the service.
