The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) said the vehicles involved were a white Mitsubishi mini truck carrying goats, a HOWO truck transporting gas and a MACK truck conveying a container filled with stones. According to TRACE spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the HOWO truck was suspected to have been speeding before crashing into the other two vehicles.

TRACE said the five victims were all male. Four bodies were taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, while the fifth remained trapped in the damaged vehicle awaiting the arrival of lifting equipment. TRACE, FRSC, OGSAES and the police were involved in rescue, recovery and traffic management operations at the scene.
