Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal has written his name into UEFA Champions League history after becoming the competition’s highest-scoring teenager, surpassing French superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The 19-year-old achieved the milestone during Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night, finding the back of the net to take his Champions League tally to 14 goals.
Yamal opened his account in the seventh minute after taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Aston Villa. He calmly curled the ball past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki to give Barcelona an early advantage at the Spotify Camp Nou.
His goal took him beyond Mbappe’s previous record of 13 Champions League goals scored as a teenager, placing the Barcelona forward at the top of the all-time list in that category.
What makes the achievement particularly remarkable is the number of appearances it has taken him to reach the milestone. Yamal has scored his 14 goals in just 37 appearances in Europe’s biggest club competition.
Mbappe, who currently has 72 Champions League goals in total, previously held the teenage record before the Spanish international moved ahead of him.
Yamal has continued to break records since making his Champions League debut. At 16 years and 83 days, he became the youngest player to start a match in the competition’s main stage when Barcelona faced FC Porto.
His latest achievement adds to an impressive year for the young winger, who finished third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or voting behind Harry Kane and Mbappe.
He has also maintained an impressive scoring and creative record this season, registering 13 goals and 11 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
