Nigerian entertainer Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has completed an advanced academic programme in acting, graduating with distinction from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
The actor’s latest qualification marks another step in his formal training in the performing arts, having previously obtained a degree in Theatre Arts and Film Studies from Redeemer’s University in 2018, according to The Sun.
Adedayo’s postgraduate work focused on the relationship between theatre, African performance traditions and resistance to political and social oppression. His dissertation explored the application of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed alongside Afrocentric performance techniques.
While at Mountview, he also took his acting beyond the classroom, appearing in the historical stage production 55 Days. He portrayed Lord Commander Thomas Fairfax in the play, which examined the political events preceding the execution of King Charles I in 1648.
The production, written by Howard Brenton and directed by James Yeatman, was presented at the academy’s Backstage Theatre as part of his postgraduate experience.
Adedayo revealed his graduation on Wednesday in a post on X, sharing a video from the ceremony. He confirmed that he obtained a Master of Arts with Distinction in Performance (Acting).
His professional development in the United Kingdom also includes an Advanced Acting for Camera course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, which he completed in 2025.
Before settling on theatre and film studies, the comedian had pursued law at Lead City University, Houdegbe North American University in Cotonou and Afe Babalola University.
He gained widespread recognition through comedy skits and social commentary, while his acting credits include Ayinla (2021), Anikulapo (2022), Freedom Way (2024) and Lisabi: The Uprising (2024).
