The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will on Thursday, September 3, commence online registration for its Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026, offering prospective Airmen and Airwomen an opportunity to enlist in the service.

The recruitment covers both Non-Tradesmen and Women as well as Tradesmen and Women categories, while the NAF clarified that the exercise is separate from the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment for graduate officers.

The Air Force, in a notice published on its official social media platform on Wednesday, directed interested applicants to use only its official recruitment portal for registration and warned them to await the release of the guidelines for the 47/2026 exercise before applying.

The caution is important as requirements for the new intake, including eligibility conditions and available trades, may differ from previous exercises. Past BMTC recruitments have generally required applicants to be Nigerian citizens by birth, single, medically and physically fit, free of criminal convictions and in possession of a valid National Identification Number.

For previous non-trades recruitment exercises, applicants were generally required to be between 18 and 22 years and have at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in relevant secondary school examinations. Applicants are, however, expected to rely on the official guidelines for the 2026 exercise when released.
