A 34-year-old South African woman has been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 36.65 kilogrammes of cocaine allegedly concealed in her luggage while preparing to travel to South Africa through Doha, Qatar.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) identified the suspect as Qhina Beauty and said she was arrested on October 7, 2026, following the discovery of 30 blocks of cocaine hidden among dried pepper in her two travelling bags.
The drugs were reportedly wrapped in tape and distributed across seven parcels in the luggage.
According to the agency, Beauty arrived in Nigeria on September 30 to collect the consignment and was allegedly promised 20,000 South African rand to deliver it to its intended destination.
The NDLEA disclosed the arrest on October 25, adding that a 46-year-old Lagos-based car dealer, Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, was also arrested on October 14 over his alleged involvement in the drug trafficking operation.
The agency has not provided further details on the alleged role of the car dealer or the next steps in the investigation.
