The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has unveiled a 168-member campaign council ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with Governor Ademola Adeleke reportedly left out of the new arrangement.
The decision has drawn attention to possible disagreements within the party over who should control its campaign activities and how key political figures should be accommodated.
The campaign council will be led by the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while the party’s state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, has been appointed as deputy director-general.
The latest development reportedly followed disagreements surrounding Adeleke’s position and the membership of an earlier campaign committee.
Although the APC has moved ahead with a new campaign structure, the decision could create further challenges for the party as it prepares for the governorship contest.
Political observers may see the development as a sign of competing interests within the Osun APC, particularly at a time when the party needs strong cooperation among its members to challenge its opponents.
Beyond the forthcoming governorship election, the situation also raises questions about the APC’s ability to manage internal disagreements and maintain a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
