Officials from three African countries can travel to Qatar without obtaining a visa in advance, provided they hold specified diplomatic or official passports, according to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior.
The countries are Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, which are among 19 nations covered by Qatar’s bilateral arrangements for eligible government officials. Legit.ng reported the development, citing information published on the ministry’s official portal.
Under the arrangement, Moroccan officials holding diplomatic or service passports are eligible, while Tunisia covers diplomatic and special passport holders. Algeria’s exemption also applies to holders of diplomatic and special passports.
Qatar’s Interior Ministry said eligible passport holders may remain in the country for up to 90 days, either during one visit or through multiple trips within a six-month period. The arrangement is subject to the entry and exit provisions established under the relevant bilateral agreements.
The ministry also states that travellers covered by the arrangement can leave Qatar without an exit permit. However, the exemption is limited to the specific passport categories listed for each country and does not apply to ordinary passport holders.
The other countries on Qatar’s 19-country list include the United Kingdom, Portugal, Bulgaria, Brazil, Italy, Cyprus, El Salvador, France, Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Singapore, Switzerland, Germany and Moldova.
