Spanish football giants Real Madrid are preparing to give tennis legend Rafael Nadal a major role in the club’s administration by appointing him to their Board of Directors.
The proposed appointment was announced on Wednesday, November 4, after a meeting of the club’s board. However, it will still require approval from Real Madrid’s General Assembly of Delegate Members before it becomes official.
Nadal, who has been a member of the club since 67,778, is already recognised as an honorary member. Real Madrid believes his reputation, achievements and personal qualities make him a valuable addition to its leadership.
In announcing the decision, the club described the 22-time Grand Slam winner as one of the greatest figures in sporting history and among Spain’s most respected athletes.
The 39-year-old enjoyed an outstanding tennis career, winning 92 individual titles, including 22 Grand Slam championships. He also claimed two Olympic gold medals, five Davis Cup titles with Spain and reached the top of the world rankings.
Beyond his success on the tennis court, Nadal has earned admiration for his discipline, humility, determination and respect for opponents. These qualities, according to Real Madrid, reflect the principles the club seeks to uphold.
The Spanish football side expressed confidence that his experience and reputation would contribute positively to its present and future, while also describing him as an inspiration to millions of people across the world.
If approved by the General Assembly, Nadal will officially become part of the club’s Board of Directors, marking another significant chapter in his long-standing relationship with Real Madrid.
