Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called for an across-the-board APC victory in the 2027 elections, rejecting a voting arrangement that supports President Bola Tinubu while allowing voters to choose candidates from other parties for legislative and state positions.
Shettima made the position clear on Wednesday at the APC mobilisation rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where he urged party supporters to vote for the president and all other APC candidates.
His call comes amid the Rainbow Coalition’s strategy of backing Tinubu while supporting candidates outside the APC in other electoral contests.
Representing Tinubu at the rally, Shettima declared: “APC from top to bottom, APC from bottom to top,” insisting that the party would not accept selective support across the ballot.
He said the APC needed a unified electoral mandate to sustain the administration’s development programmes, citing federal infrastructure investments in Nasarawa and other parts of the North-Central region.
The Vice-President listed the Lafia bypass and the Nasarawa-Plateau-Bauchi-Gombe highway project among the infrastructure initiatives expected to improve transportation and economic activities.
Acknowledging the hardship experienced by Nigerians, Shettima said Tinubu was concerned about the people’s welfare and promised further infrastructure development if re-elected.
He also urged Nasarawa voters to support Senator Ahmed Wadada for governor.
APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, described Nasarawa as strategically important to the party’s electoral prospects in the North-Central, while House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas called for Tinubu’s re-election to enable the administration to complete ongoing projects.
Abbas said the relationship between the executive and legislature had facilitated the passage of 78 bills in three years, describing the cooperation as beneficial to the administration’s policy agenda.
The rally attracted APC governors, federal and state lawmakers, party leaders and supporters from the state’s 13 local government areas.
