For 37-year-old South African woman Zukiswa Joyi, her wedding day marked more than the beginning of marriage—it was the fulfilment of a personal commitment she had openly documented for years.
Joyi, who had remained a virgin while advocating sexual purity, got married on Saturday, October 3, 2026, celebrating what she described as an answered prayer.
Her marriage journey had already reached an important milestone in March when her Lobola ceremony was held, ahead of the church wedding.
Following the ceremony, Joyi took to Facebook to reflect on the years of waiting and the role her Christian faith played in helping her remain committed to her decision.
“Hitched for life. Jesus has done this. Answered Prayer. He truly Honors those who honor him. The wait was all worth it,” she wrote.
She acknowledged that maintaining her conviction had not always been easy, revealing that there were moments when she felt discouraged but drew strength from her faith.
According to Joyi, she eventually entered marriage as a virgin at 37, something she attributed to what she described as the sustaining power of the Holy Spirit.
She also used the occasion to encourage others who have chosen abstinence, insisting that sexual purity remains possible despite what she described as societal pressure to abandon such values.
Joyi further emphasised that people who have previously fallen should not see themselves as beyond redemption, pointing to what she described as God’s grace to restore and redeem.
Her celebration ended with hashtags marking a new chapter in her life, including #OfficiallyMrsJili and #OfficiallyAWife.
